Beginning this round, Hazel is teaching Derek his skills. Today is his birthday. He will be aging up from a toddler to a school-aged boy.
Time to blow out the candles Derek!

While in CAS I decided to give Hazel just a small tweak as she is getting older as well.
The boys are sharing a room.
Hazel is still dependent on the proceeds from her garden to help support her family.
This guy, Jacques Villareal, is full of mixed messages. He occasionally visits under the ruse to look at and possibly buy one of Hazel's paintings, yet he has never even once bought a painting. He is usually very friendly and even downright flirtatious.
He's even friendly with Callen and Derek and seems to want to get to know them.
He invited Hazel to the Geek Festival which was kind of a date, right? Things were going pretty well until one of his friends joined in on the conversation. You could tell he was not happy with Jacques for some reason.
When they were working on the rocket together, Hazel threw in a little flirt. That did not go over very well. Jacques rejected it totally, leaving Hazel feeling as confused as ever. She ended up saying she needed to get home to her boys and left a little bewildered by his hot and cold behavior.
She found out that Jacques is married! That would explain his behavior I suppose. She saw them at the Romance Festival so knew the rumors were true. Hazel occasionally sees Jacque's wife walking by her house. I suppose she heard some rumors about Hazel and her husband that were not true. In any case, Hazel felt thankful. Looks like she dodged a bullet on that one!

Though things are occasionally difficult between Callen and his little brother Derek (Derek is evil,) overall things are good between them and they are close.
Callen brought home classmate Bella Goth with him. (In this save she is a teen.) Hazel does not like Bella at all so is keeping a close watch on these two. (I'm not sure why she dislikes Bella so much.)
Hazel was introduced to a man named Ryder Mack. He asked to stop by one day and they began to talk. They seemed to get along very well and had a lot in common.
Not only did the friendship between Hazel and Ryder grow, but the romance as well. Hazel hadn't felt this way about a man in a very long time. All her feelings seemed to be reciprocated by Mack's feelings towards her too.

It looks like Callen's good friend has aged up to a teen as well. Callen and Hailee have remained close throughout the years.

Hazel and Mack are in a very close relationship. She no longer has to wake up alone every morning. Will their relationship get stronger? Will they become engaged and married? Time will tell.
We leave this family early on a school morning. They are eating veggie burgers before the boys are off to school.
